NOW SHOWING: Watercolor and Acrylic Artist, Ishrat Abid

Ishrat Abid is an Avon, CT artist recognized for her captivating watercolors. She has recently delved into acrylics as well, which she finds much more forgiving.

Ishrat began painting approximately ten years ago in Toronto after being asked by a friend to join a local women's painting group. She had never painted in her life, but this supportive and nurturing environment allowed Ishrat to explore her artistic abilities and develop her own unique style.

Ishrat’s artistic journey has been one of continuous growth and exploration. She has honed her skills through internet instruction, experimentation, and learning from fellow artists. She loves exploring and mixing colors and often loses herself in this form of expression as Aquarelle has a mind of its own and creates unimaginable fusions in color and patterns, often difficult to control.

Her dedication to her craft has resulted in a distinctive body of work that resonates with many in the area. Though she does not have a preferred theme, being surrounded by the beauty of Connecticut inspires Ishrat to capture florals, fauna, and landscapes. Ishrat’s artwork reflects her love for the outdoors and her desire to preserve its essence on paper and canvas.

Ishrat is a member of the Avon Arts Association. Her work can be seen at The Investors Center, 70 East Main Street in Avon from now through September 30, 2023.
